my college beater bike, in all of its uncared for glory.
the frame is a 1971 raleigh record.
as discovered in my building's basement. it had belonged to a neighbor, who graciously gave it to me for college.
although not visible in the picture, the rear derailleur pulley was missing most of its teeth.
the front derailleur was mostly worn through, due to a bent crankshaft.
after partial restoration, including a new rear derailleur, brake pads, and cotton bar tape.
the crankshaft is still bent, causing a great deal of chain walk and some shifting problems (particularly with the front gears).
"fully" restored, with cheap toe clips and no front derailleur due to the crankshaft.
since there are no mountpoints for a bottle cage, i attached a $4 one with a strip of inner tube.
finally, i added an old cyclocomputer that had been lying around for years.
new pedals, removed the suicide brakes.
my racing bike, a specialized allez 2015.
as bought, prior to any changes.
it came with some very unsuited plastic pedals.
after some road racing upgrades.
i replaced the cheap plastic pedals with shimano m520 clipless pedals and added some bottle cages.
next up will probably be a cyclocomputer.
